UN report on e-government readiness reviewed
08 : 42 PM - 30/10/2016
Manama, Oct, 30 (BNA): Deputy Prime Minister and Chairman of the Supreme Committee for Information and Communication Technology Shaikh Mohammed bin Mubarak Al Khalifa chaired in his office at Gudaibiya Palace today the committee's meeting, in the presence of Deputy Prime Minister Shaikh Khalid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa and the committee members.

Discussions focused on the results of the 2016 UN report on the e-government readiness which confirmed Bahrain's leading position at the Arab level for the fourth time since 2010. The report also rated Bahrain as one of the most advanced countries in the e-government readiness general index. Only countries which achieve a rate above 75% of the report's overall indices which exceed 400 criteria can obtain such classification.

Bahrain's achievement in this year's report is the dividend of methodical plans which aim primarily at providing comprehensive government services that are available for all through optimum use of technology.

Shaikh Mohammed underlined the need to keep abreast of contemporary trends in providing e-government services in light of the increasing use of smart devices. He pointed out the importance of boosting effectiveness of the services through continuous evaluation and by concentrating on priorities according to the users' interaction. He also stressed the need to protect applications to ensure their continuity and boost the users' confidence.
