The Authority will also unveil the objectives and components of the Federal eGovernment Plan 2012-2014 approved by the
UAE Cabinet recently.
Invitations to journalists and the media have been sent out inviting them to attend the conference in which H.E. Salem Khamis Al Shair Al Suwaidi, Deputy Director General for Information and eGovernment Sector, will present the Federal eGovernment Plan and the upcoming projects in the eGovernment. He will also reply to questions from the journalists.
Al Suwaidi will also talk about results of the UN eGovernment Survey 2012 in which the
UAE has made remarkable achievements. He will throw light on the roadmap followed by Emirates eGovernment along with the cooperation and participation of other federal entities to achieve the global competitiveness in the field of eGovernment. It is worth mentioning that the
UAE is ranked 7th in online service index as against 99th in the 2010 Survey.
Al Suwaidi said, "Media and journalists have been our partners in making eGovernment a success since the first programme in this domain was launched in the
UAE in the year 2001. We rely on the continuity of this partnership significantly in creating awareness about eGovernment and increasing the use of eServices."
He added, "eGovernment has proved to be an effective tool in enhancing the global competitiveness of the
UAE in all fields especially the economic sphere. We are proud of our contribution to the
UAE's competitiveness which is apparent in the UN eGovernment Survey 2012. This is in line with the directives of H. H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the
UAE and Ruler of Dubai who has emphasized the importance of enhancing the competitiveness of the
UAE."
Emirates eGovernment works in line with the strategy of the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority, and is responsible for formulating and overseeing the implementation of the eGovernment strategy on the federal level, ensuring robust shared infrastructure for federal government entities, and enhanced government services.
