This achievement was reflected on the e-Government Development Index of the UAE, helping the country to improve its ranking from 49 in 2010 survey to 28 in the 2012 survey.
While the UAE topped the Arab and GCC Countries in the e-Government Development Index, the Kingdom of Bahrain came in 36th place, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia 41st and the State of Qatar 48th.
The achievement has also helped the UAE e-Government Programme to regain its leading position in the e-Government readiness in the region, after falling behind its regional peers for several years, before the federal e-Government Programme came into existence.
In 2010 Survey, the UAE dropped to the 49th place in e-Government readiness from 32nd in 2008.
The e-Government Index Survey 2012 came as a major boost to re-position the UAE in the forefront of the e-Governments worldwide.
The report also demonstrated the enormous progress made by the UAE in e-Participation, one of the key factors for assessing the e-Government readiness of different countries, with the UAE jumping from the 96th place in the 2010 to the 6th place in 2012 survey.
The e-readiness index comprises four other components including human capital, telecommunications, e-Participation and e-Presence.
