The report pointed out to the growth made by the Sultanate in the field of e-government, as well as the successful policies adopted by the government in this field which helped the Sultanate to get this rank, 18 positions better compared to 2010. Dr. Salim bin Sultan al-Ruzaiqi, CEO of the ITA said that the outcomes of the Sultanate in the field of IT stressed the fact that the Sultanate is making steady strides that showcase its commitment to lay the foundation for this ambition national project to ensure that the achievements made are based on solid grounds and potentials that will support the progress of this project.

He added that the great aspiration is still to promote the indicator for the delivery of e-services, the IT infrastructure and capacity building of human resources which will be achieved by the collaboration efforts of the different organizations each within its scope of jurisdiction.

The report pointed out that the Sultanate has made remarkable progress in the provision of e-services. The Sultanate came 35th by 20 positions compared to 2010. The report pointed out to the progress made by the Sultanate in this field. The Sultanate got 57% at the fourth stage which carries the title linking the e-government services. This is the top stage in the provision of service using modern technology.

The UN E-Government report pointed out that when speaking about providing e-services that are compatible with different vision disability and special needs, the Sultanate is one of the countries that show interest in this field as it provides website that can cater for the needs of these categories. The report commended the Sultanate's efforts to proceed with the e-government scheme. It added that this is reflected in the official sites and providing platforms for the social communication networks such as Facebook, twitter and others.

The Report considered the Sultanate among the top 25 countries that show interest in the provision of e-services through the mobile phones and among 14 countries that show interest in availing special sections at its websites for special categories of people, such as women, children, aged people, literate or the blind.

The report affirmed that when talking about the speed ensured by the governments while activating the IT to ensure better interaction between the citizens and e-services and facilitating the services provided by the government to citizens and expatriates, as well as enhancing the efficiency of the public sector, simplifying the management systems, the Sultanate's efforts in these areas should be commended. The report pointed out that the Sultanate is committed with the advanced countries to support this trend.

The report noted that many governments may benefit from modern technologies, such as laptops, smart phones and iPods in enhancing the services rendered for citizens. The Sultanate is making use of such technologies in providing services, such as SMS parking and educational portal
