E-Government Delegation Visits Bahrain

According to ameinfo.com, an online business resource website in the Middle East, an official delegation from Brunei Darussalam recently visited Bahrain and met e-Government Authority officials to get a closer look at Bahrain's experience in the e-Government field and the transition towards a digital society.

The article said the delegation, which was led by Dato Seri Paduka Haji Eussoff Agaki bin Hag Israel, Deputy Minister at the Prime Minister's Office, met with Mohammed Ale Al Qaed, the CEO of the e-Government Authority (EGA).

The delegation comprised Hag Abdul Mutalib, Deputy Permanent Secretary at the Prime Minister's Office, Awg Hj Mohidin, Acting Senior Special Duties Officer at the Prime Minister's Office, as well as Awg Shamsualbahri, the Head of Executive IT Protective Security Services (ITPSS). Also joining the delegation were a senior system analyst from the e-Government National Centre (EGNC) and the Manager of the Authority for Info-Communications Technology Industry of Brunei Darussalam (AITI).

Ameinfo.com said the Brunei delegation heard a presentation by Bahrain's c-Government Authority officials on the e-Government Authority's programmes, objectives and operations.

The delegation was also briefed on the development phases of the e-Government in Bahrain and its mechanism in integrating the ministries and governmental entities.

The e-Government Authority highlighted the marketing plans and awareness campaigns on the c-Service provided on its four channels: Online National Portal Bahrain.bh, the Mobile Gateway, the Services Centre and the National Call Centre which will be launched soon.

According to gulf-daily-news.com, Bahrain care first in the Middle East and 19" globally in the telecommunications infrastructure index, moving from 46`h position in 2008 globally, according to the United Nations' c-Government Readiness Report of 2010.

Meanwhile, earlier this year, the Bulletin reported that Brunei is in 68"' position, according to the 2010 United Nations e-Government Survey.
