The US telecoms regulator, the FCC has announced that the legal council who was in charge during the failed takeover of T-Mobile USA by AT&T is to leave the regulator.
Amy Levine was the Senior Counsel & Legal Advisor to the Chairman of the FCC, Julius Genachowski. Her work included supervising the agency's spectrum policy and providing technical advice to Congress; managing wireless transaction reviews, including the proposed AT&T/T-Mobile and AT&T/Qualcomm transactions; and promoting the creation of a nationwide, interoperable public safety broadband network and deployment of E911 and NG911 technologies.
In a brief statement, the regulator confirmed that Charles Mathias will be detailed from his current role in the Wireless Telecommunications Bureau on an interim basis to serve as Acting Legal Advisor upon Ms. Levine's departure.
FCC Chairman Genachowski said, " It goes without saying that we'll miss Amy deeply, and I am sure she will continue to deliver the same expert counsel and commitment that she brought to the Commission in the next stage of her career. I congratulate Amy and wish her the very best."
