South Korea will further ease procedures for online shopping for overseas consumers by giving more options for identification, the technology ministry said Wednesday.

The Ministry of Science, ICT and Future Planning said it will have online malls adopt identification methods other than the social security numbers used by South Koreans. Options can include i-PIN or text messages to make transactions easier for foreign users who, not having a social security number, are sometimes prevented from becoming members of online shopping websites, it said.
