President Abdulla Yameen on Thursday said his government was in talks with the judiciary, on ways to make the country’s justice system more efficient.
Speaking during a meeting with the people of Addu, President Yameen noted that the government would not be able to complete all of its tasks within the first hundred days. However, the first hundred days would pave the way for the government to reach major decisions on its main projects, he added.
The president reiterated some of the government's pledges, assuring the increase of the allowance for elderly above 65 years, and the introduction of the insurance scheme for fishermen in order to ensure a monthly wage of MVR10,000 regardless of the catch. He said farmers would be covered under a similar insurance scheme.
President Yameen arrived back in Male Friday afternoon following the conclusion of his trip to Addu.
