The present government has paid special attention to the education for the children in the estate sector to add value to the young generation in the country, President Mahinda Rajapaksa said yesterday.

Addressing an election rally at Pundaluoya in Nuwara Eliya, President Rajapaksa said while developing the upcountry and providing facilities such as roads, hospitals, water and electricity, his government has focused on improving the education to provide more opportunities for the youths in the estate areas.

"We want these children out of the estates, not confined to the line rooms. We want them to get a good education," the President said.

Pointing out that the government has provided 100,000 jobs in the state sector to the university graduates, President Rajapaksa said the government will make arrangements to immediately provide jobs to the graduates as soon as they completed the education.

The President further said that the opposition has no rational allegation to level against the government and therefore, it spreads false facts to discredit the government.

Pointing out that the government has held several elections, the President said the opposition claims that there is no democracy since they could not win any of the elections.

"We hold elections, but they cannot win them, so they claim there is no democracy," he said.

"If a government provides a service to the people, the people will trust that government," he added.

Ministers C.B. Rathnayake, Dilan Perera, Naveen Dissanayake, Nimal Siripala De Silva and Mahinda Amaraweera were also present at this rally.
