M Sabur Khan, president of the Dhaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI), has underscroed the need for taking necessary measures for establishing IT village and developing infrastruction for the development of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) sector of Bangladesh. Khan made the remark at a business meeting between DCCI and visiting Indian ICT trade delegation from Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) at DCCI office in the city on Monday.

The visiting Indian ICT trade delegation comprised of businessmen especially from the ICT sector of India.

Welcoming the Indian ICT trade delegation, DCCI President said both Bangladesh and India can boost bilateral business more utilizing the friendly relation between these two countries.

Khan also invited Indian businessmen and entrepreneurs to invest in Bangladesh enjoying investment-friendly packages and incentives offered by the present government to the foreign investors.

He also informed the Indian delegation that DCCI has established a help desk in its own premises to facilitate trade and commerce and entrepreneurs of both local and abroad. Debdas Sen who is the leader of the Indian delegation and also regional manager (East) of Price Water House Coopers Pvt Ltd said the delegation of CII is visiting Bangladesh to explore and utilize ICT resources of this country and to discover new avenues of business.

Sen called upon IT entrepreneurs of both the countries to work in partnership for the development of ICT sector.

He also informed that they have signed a memorandum of understanding with a Bangladeshi company named ‘Bangladesh System Technology Ltd.’ for developing their competency in the education system management which will help in developing human resources especially in the education sector.

“We will also facilitate training to the IT people of Bangladesh in future and share technical expertise,” he assured.

The meeting was also attended by DCCI senior vice president Nessar Maksud Khan, vice president Absar Karim Chowdhury, directors KMN Manjurul Hoque, Haider Ahmed Khan, Osama Taseer, Mohd. Iftekharuddin (Naushad), M Abu Hurairah, Hossain A Sikder, Abdus Salam, Md Shoaib Choudhury and BASIS vice president Syed Almas Kabir.
