In 2009-2013 the amount of investment in transport sector of Azerbaijan amounted 7.3 billion manats, 10 times higher than the indicator of previous 5-year period, Transport Minister of Azerbaijan Ziya Mammadov said during the meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers yesterday.

The meeting was held under the chairmanship of the President of Azerbaijan, and was dedicated to the outcomes of social and economic development of the country in the first half of 2013 as well as to the upcoming challenges.

According to him, in 5 years the transport sector of Azerbaijan has transported 688 million tons of cargo with the average annual growth of cargo transportation by 5.1 per cent.

The amount of passenger transportation in 5 years constituted 7.1 billion people with the average annual growth of 7.1 per cent, Mammadov noted during the meeting.
