The government has started a campaign to bring all the house owners under rental tax net issuing house rent card from Wednesday.
Unveiling the new house rental tax directives and booklet on Monday, Finance Minister Barsha Man Pun also said that the campaign would be expedited to bring landlords under rental tax net within two-months.
Inland Revenue Department (IRD) has targeted to bring some 25,500 more houses across the country into the rental tax net in its initial campaign while some 20,500 taxpayers have been targeted alone from capital city.
According to the IRD, residential purpose taxpayers should pay 10 percent while commercial purpose should pay 25 percent as rental tax.
The house owners have to obtain house rent card fulfilling requirement as per the directives from ward offices, tax service offices, and Inland Revenue Offices across the country to pay the tax to the government.
