Uzbekistan to Allocate Huge Funds for Road Repairs in 2012

The Uzbek government has approved two programs to repair roads worth 447.7 billion soums in the current year -- a program to overhaul roads of international and national importance and a program to repair public roads of local importance and rural roads.

 

The road sections passing through "Kamchik" crossing connecting the Ferghana Valley with the republic, in the territory of Tashkent region, as well as in the cities of Kokand, Samarkand, Bukhara are the main areas to be repaired.

 

It is planned to master 225 billion soums within the first program.

 

These funds will be used to conduct middle repair and overhaul on sections of the roads with a total length of 398 km.

 

About 151.9 billion soums will be allocated to repair sections of roads having national importance with a total length 261.9 km and 73.1 billion soums to repair 136.5 km of roads having international importance.

 

The program is planned to be financed through the state budget funds and funds borrowed from international financial institutions.

 

More than 222.7 billion soums will be spent to realize the second program. Th work on this program will be funded at the expense of the Republican Road Fund worth 108 billion soums, as well as the funds from the republican and local budgets totaling 114.7 billion soums.

 

The official exchange rate is 1853.01 soums /$ 1 on April 17.
