$0Metropolitan Police Bureau launched the newly created application in co-operation with Dtac, the country’s leading operator, and Samart Multimedia to allow road commuters to access the city’s real-time CCTV on the go via 3G, and be updated with the latest traffic news feeds and accidents.$0

$0According to Thongsong, the picture transmission from the street and highway’s CCTVs, operated by National Electronics and Computer Technology Center (NECTEC) will be delayed for five minutes, but it is enough for users to see the traffic conditions and plan their route.$0

$0“The app is to facilitate Bangkok road commuters, expand Traffic Police’s services to wider channel as an value-add to the original Traffic Police’s website, and to provide an effective and up-to-date e-services to citizen,” Thonsong said.$0

$0There are over three hundred CCTVs throughout the capital and the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration is now preparing the proposal for the budget from 2013 fiscal to install more surveillance cameras in order to increase public safety.$0

$0Samart Multimedia Managing Director Subhasiddhi Rakkasikorn said that the company is preparing to launch ‘Traffic Police’ app for seven-inch Android’s tablets by the coming May, and improve its search engine tools as well as upgrading both IOS and Android’s user interface to be more user friendly.$0

$0“The app will also be further developed to improve its efficiency,” he said.$0

$0According to him, the app received very positive feedback with over 69,391 downloads for IOS 4.0 version within a month after its launch mid of February, and 6,913 downloads for Android version.$0
