KLANG: The private and public sectors should work towards greater public-private partnership aimed at developing the nation's social safety net for all Malaysians said Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak on Monday.
"We must feel empathy for the disabled and less fortunate.
"That is why the Government adopts a social safety net policy although we are not a welfare state," he said in his speech at a gathering of the disabled, senior citizens and less fortunate the Klang Hokkien Association.
Some 1,500 people attended the event with Najib presenting aid to the less fortunate.
Present at the event were MCA vice president Senator Datuk Donald Lim Siang Chai and Barisan Nasional state leaders.
