Sangsad Bhaban, June 1 (UNB) - The government will soon introduce the Third Generation (3G) Technology in the country, the Prime Minister told Parliament on Wednesday.
Leader of the House and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina stated this in reply to a supplementary question of Tanvir Shakil Joy (Sirajganj-1).
The 3G technology is a gateway which can transmit packet switch data efficiently at better and increased bandwidth. The 3G mobile technology offers more advanced services to mobile users that can help many multimedia services to function. Spectral efficiency is the measurement of rate of information transfer over any communication system. 3G is also known as IMT-2000.
Replying to another supplementary question from Kamal Ahmed Majumder (Dhaka-15), the Prime Minister informed the House that the much-awaited low cost laptop will soon be available.
She said Telecommunication Minister Rajiuddin Ahmed Raju at the last cabinet meeting made a presentation on the home made laptop.
Hasina said price of the laptops will be fixed at Tk 11,000-Tk 20,000.
