Uzbek President Islam Karimov has signed a decree "On additional measures to further strengthen the social protection of retirees and disabled people for 2011-2015."
The preamble states that the document was approved "with a view to further strengthen the targeted social protection and improve the level and quality of life of lone elderly, pensioners and disabled people, improving their welfare, as well as strengthening material-technical base of medical and social institutions." The decree stipulates improving the legal framework and social services for retirees, and improving the quality of their social services.
The necessary funds to finance the implementation of these measures will be stipulated in the formation of the state budget for 2012-2015.
