Public officials here in Korea will have to keep their discipline in check as the Prime Minister's Office, the Ministry of Public Administration and Security as well as the National Police Agency together have started a large-scale disciplinary inspection on Tuesday.
And this comes in time for the Lunar New Year holiday early next month.
The Prime Minister's Office says the inspection team will focus on nailing those at government ministries, public institutions and local governments found to have received kickbacks or improper gifts from both within and outside the organization.
Overspending on trips abroad or events and irresponsible behavior or laziness concerning one's duties are also subjects to examination.
Harsh punitive measures are expected to be imposed on those found to be linked to such practices.
