Rajkot Municipal Corporation (RMC) has won Manthan Award ( South Asia) 2010 for 'Mobile Governance - an efficient way to meet citizen's expectations' at a function held in Delhi recently. RMC's project was short-listed in e-governance category for its various innovative services based on SMS service and developed by in-house computer department. The SMS services include alert, interactive and management service to the citizen.
There were a total of 89 entries in e-governance category, of which RMC's project stood sixth. "The objective of the award is to empower citizens and serve public service clients, fostering quality and efficiency of information exchange and communication services in governmental and public administrative processes; strengthening participation of citizens in information society decision-making,'' an RMC official said.
