Afghanistan's anticorruption authorities plan to release the assets of government officials. Mohammad Yasin Usmani, head of the government-appointed High Office of Oversight, said his agency on June 19 will begin releasing the asset-disclosure forms filed by 2,000 officials.
President Hamid Karzai pledged to crack down on graft following foreign criticism of widespread corruption in Afghanistan after his reelection in a vote marred by fraud last year. Western nations describe corruption as a challenge to stabilizing the country.
