Fiji's interim government has repealed laws that banned pension payments and benefits to those it defined as critics.
The Pension's Decree was enacted in December and was designed to stop payments to those seen as critics of the actions of the military backed government and its leaders.
Among those affected were former prime minister, Laisenia Qarase, and the leader of the 1987 coups, former Prime Minister Sitveni Rabuka.
In a statement, interim Prime Minister Commodore Frank Bainimarama announced that following meetings and discussions, it was decided the decree enforcing the ban on benefits would be repealed.
He says all those affected will start receiving payments again from Tuesday this week.
