Turkmenistan is considering the issue of establishing the Ministry of Public Utilities. As President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov stressed at the Cabinet meeting, this is necessitated by "intensive growth of cities and villages of the country, and, consequently, the expansion of engineering and communication infrastructure.
The meeting also discussed issues related to sanitation in Ashgabat and its suburbs. The Chairman of Supreme Chamber of Control of Turkmenistan, Orazmyrat Gurbannazarov, reported on the results of inspection that identified cases of backlog in construction work, delays in removing construction debris, as well as unauthorized housing.
The President of Turkmenistan severely reprimanded governors of Azatlyk, Kopetdag, Niyazov, Archabil, and Chandybil districts of Ashgabat for unsatisfactory performance of duties, lack of organization of works on sanitation and beautification of the city, as well as weakening of controls over the use of the housing stock.
The Deputy Minister of Health and Medical Industry of Turkmenistan, Chairman of the State Sanitary and Epidemiological Service Leili Shamyradova received a severe reprimand for unsatisfactory organization of work of subordinate institutions and low maintenance of health standards in the city of Ashgabat and its suburbs.
Mayor of Ashgabat Shamuhammed Durdylyev has been warned that if the above-mentioned shortcomings are not corrected in the near future serious measures against him will follow.
