Emirates eGovernment is holding an
orientation workshop for the UAE federal and local government entities
on the GCC eGovernment Award 2011. The workshop will be held on Monday,
July 25, at Grand Hyatt Dubai Hotel.
All UAE government bodies have been invited to attend the workshop. Emirates eGovernment will brief the entities on the GCC
eGovernment Award and familiarise them about the rules and other
conditions of participation and criteria for selection and evaluation.
All details relating to the GCC eGovernment Award can be found on its dedicated portal, which will be launched at the workshop.
H.
E. Salem Khamis Al Shair Al Suwaidi, Director General, Emirates
eGovernment, urged the federal and local government agencies to attend
the workshop.
He said, "It is due to the able guidance of our
wise leaders that we have been able to be the forerunner in many areas
including eTransformation. We are keen to maintain our status of
vanguard in the field of eGovernment. GCC
eGovernment Award provides us with a constructive platform to review
our achievements and honour those amongst us who have raised the
benchmark through dedication and innovation. We seek to share this
opportunity with our brothers in the various government agencies by
participating in the awards."
Emirates eGovernment is responsible for receiving nominations from the UAE
federal and local government bodies, reviewing them to ensure they
conform to the entry criteria as specified and then submitting the
nominations for evaluation by the jury.
This year, the GCC
eGovernment Award will be presented in five categories. These are Best
eService, Best eContent, Best Federal Portal, Best Portal in Development
Sector and Best G2G Project. The winners will be announced and the
awards will be presented at the second GCC eGovernment Conference and Exhibition to be held from November 13 to 15 in Kuwait.

won awards at the first GCC eGovernment Award.
Some of the objectives of GCC eGovernment Award are to create a positive competitive culture within the GCC nations to promote the eGovernment projects and initiatives and strengthen the GCC
