He however stated that technological innovation coupled with strong partnerships, both public and private, as well as collaboration from all sectors of society, are essential requisites for Nigeria to realise its full potential, especially in line with its vision 20:2020 gambit.
Makwane said Microsoft had invested heavily in its effort to improve on the local economy through job creation, support for the youths in Nigeria, software donations to non-governmental organisations and the encouragement of local innovation.
“We believe that by helping people reach their full potential, our business will naturally benefit their economic prosperity,” he said.
Microsoft, which has a 22-year history in Africa, has mentored over 50 startups through its BizSpark, one of which is African gaming-app company – Gamesole owned by award-winning game developer Abiola Olaniran, and recently rolled out plans to continue supporting education and skills development amongst the continent’s young professionals.
