South Africa: Stationery Donation Makes School Life Easier

Some of the money was raised through an initiative whereby 1% of the value of purchases of specially marked Woolworths stationery went to a special MySchool fund, with matching funds being donated by MySchool.
“This is the first stationery donation since the project was initiated last year. Now the learners in this community are equipped with the tools they need for the new curriculum. In doing so we also recognise the support of Woolworths customers who bought the specially marked stationery,” says Pieter Twine, MySchool General Manager. “Working together with partners such as Bic (donating writing materials), Henkel (donating Pritt) and James Ralph (donating Casio products) enabled us to make an impactful donation to this community.”
A special hand over event was held at Vaatjie School. Learners from the school are among the group to receive the donated items, ranging from backpacks to sticky tape, that will be distributed with the help of the ACVV Koeberg Branch, a social services organisation with a well established network of assisting communities in the greater Atlantis, Melkbos and Philadelpia areas.
The initiative to raise money towards stationery needs in under-resourced schools continues and every purchase of a specially marked stationery item at Woolworths will make a difference.
