The Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) is to construct multi-purpose satellite markets at Asawase, Atonsu and Krofrom, the Metro Chief Executive, Mr. Samuel Sarpong, has announced.
He said the projects were being funded from the Assembly's share of the AFD 40 million Euro grant given to four hardworking assemblies in the country.
The KMA boss disclosed at an end of year press soiree for a section of the media in the Ashanti Region that his four-year mandate, as the Mayor of Kumasi, saw the implementation of several human centered policies, leading to the execution of more than 171 projects.
Mr. Sarpong stated that 107 of the projects were education related, eight health facilities, while 20 came under water and sanitation, with 36 boreholes with overhead tanks constructed for deprived schools and communities.
The Mayor indicated that the KMA spent over GH¢3 million under the capital city electrification projects embarked upon by the Ministry of Energy, to provide electricity to all the electoral areas in the metropolis.
