Gambia has been put on a 4G network footing at a ceremony held yesterday, as network operator Netpage launched its 4G device.

The 4G network dubbed to be invented for the first time in Gambia by Netpage has been on sale since last week before the official launching at a press briefing yesterday.

Taking to turns to speak at the semi-briefing, Chief Executive Officer Simon Abraham said the purpose of the invention is to 'deliver the service of the promise'. Harping on the nitty-gritty of the 4G, Mr Abraham said, it is the first generation communications network and the 'next stage of wireless evolution'.

With already a marketing slogan the Max Evolution for Netpage in use, CEO Abraham said the innovation has a wide capacity and point of congestion is high unlikely, in his own words 'unless we probably absorb the entire country on our net work which we hope to have and until it happen, it will be a reality'.

Elucidating further, the Netpage top brass said its towers can carry forty times more than a conventional 3G network and they are already considering fully covering the greater Banjul by September this year.

"Secondly, the devices that we have can provide speeds of up to forty megabits. I cannot imagine what forty megabits is like in Gambia but I have experienced it and it is actually overwhelming. We have also built a platform also that is dynamic for people. You don't have to be tied down to a specific tariff for a specific plan. This means you the user will manage how you want your speed to be. For example if you want to be in 5megs you can login and go to 5megs and it all depends on how much money you have in your account" Simon dwelled on to journalists at the Oasis apartment, adding, the concept is it can avert exorbitant spending as users can choose to be on a lower tariff if they are tied on budget.

The six product devices can serve up to 250 people and more than three users can login into one device says the Netpage boss.

The devices are Max Egg costing D5, 500, Max indoor wifi D6, 500, Max indoor NW D4, 750, Max Outdoor D11, 000 and max stick -the lowest -at a price of D3, 000.

"The max egg is suitable for indoor and outdoor clients needing wifi connections only. Max indoor Suitable for homes / small offices and for clients requiring a wifi connection. Max indoor NW is suitable for homes /small offices and for clients with existing wifi routers. For Max outdoor, Corporate use and for clients out of range and finally the max stick is single user or personal." He said on a final rote.
