The Ministry of East African Cooperation has launched its website and customer care charter. The move is, among others, intended to create a close relationship between the ministry and the general public for better services. Speaking during the launching ceremony in Dar es Salaam the Permanent Secretary Ministry of East African Cooperation, Tax Stagomena Bamwenda said the charter is also aimed at creating awareness to their customers on all the services offered by the ministry and their rights to get them.

Dr Diodorus Kamala, the Minister of East African Cooperation who was also the guest of honour said the launching of the charter was a means of implementing the policy of the commission and employment in the public service Act of 1998 and the sustainability of the public service.

The ministry has to that effect prepared the charter that outlines the procedures and rates for customer care service.

Some of the services to be offered include coordinating participation of sectoral ministries, private sector and the public in general in the discussion and implementation of the EAC Common Market, Customs Union Protocol, single currency and political federation among others. Others are to cement the participation of Tanzania in the EAC regional integration as one of the integration zones and international institutions of which Tanzania is their founder and give reports of meetings from all levels on different important issues in the community. It will also ensure the implementation of all the directives from the top level meetings of the community. The charter will further give clarifications regarding the implementation of the community; create awareness to the Tanzanians on the various opportunities in the EAC and put conducive environment for the public servants.
