Section 6 (1) of the Act stipulates that a parent shall enrol a learner in a primary school at the age of six years or in the year in which he or she will be six years of age by 30th of June that calendar year, and the leaner shall stay in school until he or she reaches such age as may be prescribed by the Minister.
The emphasis was to remind us all of our collective responsibility to ensure that all children between the ages of 6 and 13 enrol and attend primary school without any hindrance. Education is a fundamental human right and Lesotho shall do all in its power to provide for full implementation of the relevant provisions of the Education For All protocol.
The day began with a march at Ha Mabote and the surrounding villages ending with celebrations at the Mabote Police Recreational Grounds. The launch was attended by primary school children from the surrounding areas, parliamentarians, development partners and other dignitaries.
