It will look at whether the government has achieved the objectives of the 2010 coalition agreement and the Open Public Services white paper
The Public Administration Select Committee will carry out an inquiry into government plans to reform public service delivery, including its work with the voluntary sector.
Among the issues that the citizens and public services inquiry will focus on are mutualisation, payment by results and whether the government’s reforms have helped to open up public services to grass-roots community groups.
It will also look into whether the government has achieved the objectives laid out in the 2010 coalition agreement and the Open Public Services white paper.
The committee will accept written evidence to the inquiry until 27 September and will schedule oral evidence hearings from November.
PASC studies the quality and standards of administration within government. It recently published a report called The Role of the Charity Commission and "Public Benefit": post-legislative scrutiny of the Charities Act 2006, which criticised government for failing to define public benefit, and said the Charity Commission did not have the resources to carry out all its statutory objectives.
