The United Nations Department of Economics and Social Affairs has released the Arabic version of the UN eGovernment Survey 2014 yesterday after it has been translated into Arabic language.

The ceremony was attended by Bahrain’s eGovernment Authority CEO,  Mohammed Ali Al Qaed, Chief of eGovernment Branch-Department of Economic and Social Affairs, United Nations,  Vincenzo Aquaro  and Senior Inter-Regional Advisor on eGovernment at the United Nations Department of Economic and  Social Affairs, Richard Kerby.

Mr. Kerby congratulated the Bahrain government for its jump in rankings across many indexes.

The survey aims at capturing the best examples across globe and tries to portray replicable models to solve country specific issues. Especially the stories from Asian and African countries, which speak about success even with meagre resources are an inspiration for many other countries.

Mr. Al Qaed stated, “If we have strong Gulf competitors, we will move more forward.” He added, “Mobile applications and other smart solutions could help the Kingdom to achieve more in this effort. An application for the eGovernment project was downloaded 20,000 times within a short span.”

“The availability of the content of the survey in Arabic language reflects the keenness of the United Nations,‘’ Mr. Al Qaed added.

Commenting on UN effort in reducing the gender disparity in receiving primary education and the role of eGovernment, Mr. Aquaro, said that if the world gave opportunities, gender disparity could be brought down.
