Prime Minister Stephen Harper announced today the following changes in the senior ranks of the Public Service:
Matthew King, currently Associate Deputy Minister of National Defence, becomes Deputy Minister of Fisheries and Oceans, effective January 14, 2013.
Andrew Treusch, currently Associate Deputy Minister of Public Works and Government Services, becomes Commissioner of Revenue, effective January 14, 2013.
Renée Jolicoeur, currently Assistant Deputy Minister, Accounting, Banking and Compensation Branch, Public Works and Government Services Canada, becomes Associate Deputy Minister of Public Works and Government Services, effective January 14, 2013.
Michael Keenan, currently Assistant Deputy Minister, Strategic Policy Branch, Environment Canada, becomes Associate Deputy Minister of Natural Resources, effective January 14, 2013.
Prime Minister Harper also named Simon Kennedy, Deputy Minister for International Trade, as Canada's G-20 Sherpa, and Peter Boehm, Associate Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, as Canada's G-8 Sherpa. These appointments are effective immediately.
As the personal representatives of G-20 and G-8 leaders, Sherpas manage the Summit preparatory process to identify issues for discussion and decision among Leaders. The next G-20 Summit will take place in Saint Petersburg, Russia, September 5-6, 2013, and the next G-8 Summit will take place in Lough Erne, United Kingdom, June 17-18, 2013.
