The president of ITBusiness.ca's parent company was honoured in Montreal this past weekend for her contributions to Canada's IT sector.
Fawn Annan, president and group publisher of IT World Canada, received a special Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal in a ceremony held Sunday during the i-CANADA summit on digital leadership and intelligent communities.
βTo be in the presence of such an incredible group of Canadians - from John Kelly, former CEO of SHL Systemhouse and Jetform, to Brian Bronfman who is taking care of his Family Foundation for peace - was the most humbling experience of my life,β Annan said. βI feel extremely fortunate to be part of this select club of recognized individuals who have made a difference to our landscape. It is a tremendous honour.β
In addition to her role at IT World Canada, Annan is an advisory board member at Canadian Women in Technology (CanWIT) and Ontario vice-president of Invest CrowdFund Canada.
David Jonah, Annan's strategic advisor at IT World Canada, was also one of the 38 medal recipients. Other notable honourees included Fredericton mayor Brad Woodside, crowdfunding advocate and Helix Commerce International CEO Cindy Gordon, and ING Direct CEO Peter Aceto.
The jubilee medal was created to mark Queen Elizabeth II's sixtieth year on the throne by honouring Canadian achievers in various fields.
