Nearly two weeks after Code for America announced next year’s partner cities to participate in its volunteer-based civic fellowship program, the organization announced Friday, Oct. 19, its official list of fellows who will spend the year in these partner cities working on projects such as application development.
Of the 29 fellows selected to participate in the program next year, many have resumes touting career experience as graphic designers, urbanists, developers and project managers, according to Code for America.
2013 Fellow Lindsay Ballant comes from a journalism background. She serves as the design director of Newsweek magazine and is an adjunct professor at the School of Visual Arts located in New York City.
“We live in an age of participation, but our public institutions haven’t benefited equally from the technologies that have so dramatically changed the business and social landscape in the past decade,” said Jennifer Pahlka, Code for America’s founder and executive director. “We’re eager to see what this impressive class of fellows will create next year.”
