Liberal leader Michael Ignatieff proposed Thursday an overhaul of the way the government discloses information online, which he called a "default principle of open government when it comes to sharing information," by restoring the long-form census; creating a website -- opendata.gc.ca -- where as many databases as possible would be available free of charge, including Statistics Canada data; posting all access to information requests, responses and response times at another proposed site, accesstoinformation.gc.ca ; and making information on government grants, contributions and contracts available at a third, accountablespending.gc.ca .
