Mexico has reached 65,149 public sites providing free broadband access by the end of 2014.The national connectivity program Mexico Conectado (Connected Mexico) stipulates a total of 250,000 sites nationwide providing free broadband access by 2018. The project stipulates the deployment of free connectivity in public areas including schools, parks, libraries government buildings and hospitals. Mexico, Morelos, Colima and Tabasco stares are part of this connectivity initiative. Connectivity is provided by satellite technology and fibre optic infrastructure.
