The majority of Germans are unaware of emerging digital service technologies, according to a survey conducted by EMNIDbusse. Technologies such as Bitcoin (66%), Bluetooth Low Energy (70%) or NFC (near field communication) (86%) are widely unknown. M-payment is more common but is only used by 3 percent of the interviewees. A total 17 percent have never heard of it. Cloud computing is the most frequently used technology at 19 percent among the 1,015 participants. Among smartphone users and the age group 14-19 year-olds, the awareness of these services tends to be higher.
