UN Thanked the President of Azerbaijan for Hosting Internet-Based Forum

"I would like to express my sincere appreciation to you and the Azerbaijani government for the success of the Forum VII Internet governance and the hospitality extended to me and my delegation. I appreciate meeting with you. Election Baku and the Baku Expo Center venue for this important event were significant in terms successful completion of the four-day event. As you know, the event was attended by over 1600 high-level representatives from 128 countries. Participants discussed the main topics of e-governance, including issues connected to the internet and the issue of diversity, management of critical Internet resources, Internet governance for development, as well as issues related to security, transparency, freedom and privacy, "- said in the letter.
 
Honbu Wu noted the special role of more than 300 professional employees of the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, and more than 250 local young volunteers in organizing the forum.
 
"This was my first visit to Azerbaijan. I was deeply impressed by the socio-economic development, in particular development in the field of information and communication technologies and in the Internet. Believe that this progress will contribute to the technological transformation of Azerbaijan and in the work in which Azerbaijan plays the role of technological momentum in the region, "- said in a letter.
 
Honbu Wu noted that the development of the ICT sector by the Government of Azerbaijan and the commitment to work to expand the use of the Internet in the delivery of social services to bring positive results.
 
"In addition, we would like to emphasize that under your leadership, the Azerbaijani government has turned into one of the priorities of the freedom of expression on the Internet and has implemented numerous related events. Department of Economic and Social Affairs and the broader community and the UN are going to continue to strengthen the partnership with the Azerbaijani government to provide support for the future social and economic development in Azerbaijan. express my profound respect, "- said in the letter.
