SINGAPORE: Two new Android phone applications for the elderly were launched on Sunday, with the aim of encouraging active aging and inter-generational bonding.
The two games -- Snake and Ladders, and a memory game -- will be in English, Mandarin and Cantonese and will also feature stars familiar to these senior citizens.
Acting Minister for Community Development, Youth and Sports Chan Chun Sing, who graced the event, said such technology can improve the lives of senior citizens.
The mobile games were jointly developed by The Adventist Home for the Elders and Nanyang Polytechnic.
Mr Chan said: "While it might seem like a simple game, leveraging on such technology to help the elders to improve their memory, refresh the memories when they were young, it's very helpful to keep the elders mentally healthy."
