Thailand’s Electronic Government Agency next year will focus on enhancing interoperability of e-government system, and ease the smooth transition of public sector to Internet Protocol version 6 (IPv6), according to EGA’s President & CEO Dr Sak Segkhoonthod.

"Next year, the EGA aims at providing executive CIO trainings both to IT department and executive level officers in order to facilitate the interoperability of the government IT system," said Dr Segkhoonthod.

According to him, the special focus of the EGA will be supporting the smooth transition of the public sector’s website to IPv6 standard.

"We will provide training to about 100 officers, for them to be able to migrate their system into the new IPV6 standard," he added explaining that the Thai government has ordered all e-government services to support IPv6 by 2015.

Dr Segkhoonthod also added that the EGA will prepare to train public sector’s officers in the area of Domain Name System (DNS) Security, as he expressed the concern over the shortage of skilled officers in this area.

"There are a number of hackers trying to intrude into the government system these days, but many agencies still lack of skilled technical officers to solve and prevent this problem," he said.
