Dhaka, Oct 7 (UNB)- Commerce Minister GM Quader at a seminar on Sunday called upon the private entrepreneurs to come forward in expanding trade and commerce across the country.
He sought due role from the entrepreneurs to make Bangladesh a middle income country by 2021.
Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MCCI) organised the seminar titled “Trade Facilitation in Bangladesh: Constraints and Ways Forward’ in the city.
Presided over by MCCI president Maj Gen (retd) Amjad Khan Chowdhury, the seminar was addressed, among others, by Chairman of Bangladesh Tariff Commission M Sahab Ullah, Commerce Secretary M Ghulam Hossain and chief of Bangladesh Foreign Trade Institute Dr M Mujibur Rahman. Tariff Commission deputy chief Rama Dewan presented the keynote paper.
Speaking as the chief guest, GM Quader said the government has increased different facilities and extended cooperation to help boost domestic and international trade.
“All types of assistance are available in all government departments to boost trade and commerce,” he said.
He underscored the need for improving the standard of products and services using modern technology to remain competitive in global business.
The minister claimed that the government has achieved huge success in creating an international market for Bangladeshi products, including medicine, shipbuilding as well as information technology.
