The Information Technology Authority (ITA) is organising the eGovernment Transformation Plan Symposium, which will be held today at Al Bustan Palace — A Ritz Carlton Hotel. The event will be held under the patronage of Shaikh Asl Fadhl bin Mohammed al Harthy, Secretary-General of the Council of Ministers, and in the presence of a number of ministers, under-secretaries, and other government officials representing directorates and departments of information technology in government institutions.
Speaking about the symposium, Dr Salim Sultan al Ruzaiqi, CEO of ITA, said: “The organisation of this seminar reflects the importance of the eGovernment Transformation Plan, following its establishment by the ITA Board of Directors and subsequent approval by the Council of Ministers, to assist the transition towards effective eGovernment.
The aim of this symposium is to work towards enhancing the delivery of government e-services to bring about the desired eGovernment Transformation, in accordance with certain policies and standards and within a specific time frame.”
Dr. Ruzaiqi continued: “Through organising this symposium, the ITA seeks to introduce the eGovernment Transformation Plan through focusing on three objectives: introducing the eGovernment Transformation Plan — stages, targets and plan; explaining the eGovernment Transformation Policies — elements and responsibilities; and, defining the measurement and assessment methodology, processes and tools, which will be used to determine the extent of development achieved by various institutions, as they implement the various stages and targets defined in the eGovernment Transformation Plan.”
This symposium comes in line with the national strategy for e.oman and Digital Oman eGovernment, to determine what has been done so far in terms of preparing the infrastructure, and the development of eGovernment services, capacity-building and national skills in the field of information technology, and in order to promote eGovernment services.
