Members of the public can find out more about electronic government services through a dedicated show section called Government @ GITEX. Located in Sheikh Saeed Hall, exhibitors include government departments and other official bodies.

Dubai eGovernment will use its stand space to publicise new mobile applications for businesses and individuals. It will highlight service packages in the key areas of core and channel enabling services; government resource planning services; collaboration, connectivity & infrastructure enabling services; and policy, advisory and knowledge services. Dubai eGovernment works in collaboration with other government departments, which collectively now offer more than 2000 e-services through one portal, Dubai.ae.

The UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) will demonstrate a range of e-services that it has developed to serve UAE citizens and visitors to the UAE. On show will be the Tawajudi service, which allows UAE nationals to register with consular services before travelling abroad; consular e-services such as attestations and visa information; and travel advisories for UAE citizens travelling abroad. The MoFA recently took some of its e-services mobile, with the launch of an app for the iPhone and iPad.

Abu Dhabi Judicial Department (ADJD) will exhibit at GITEX to build awareness of its electronic services. Among those that will be on show are the Rufoof service, which sells ADJD-published books online; e-services such as notary public and power of attorney; and a case management system.  “ADJD will use the platform offered by GITEX for educating the public, promoting our message, building corporate brand awareness, demonstrating new usage of e-services, introducing new services, developing strategic relationships, and building our contact database,” says Dr Yasin Miheisi, Director, IT Service Delivery Division, ADJD.

The Ministry of Public Works (MoPW) plans to demonstrate a host of e-services, including project initiation, e-competition, e-qualification, e-budget, e-showcase and e-evaluation.

MoPW, which oversees the  tendering and awarding of major public infrastructure contracts, will soon launch two new features on its web site. ‘Ask the Ministry’ will allow the public to ask questions and receive answers. ‘Contact the Minister’ will allow the public to pose questions to the Minister directly. The stand will feature a geographical information system (GIS) with the maps of all MoPW projects currently underway.

Afifa Bin Hammad, VP of Project Planning, MoPW says: “In previous years, Gitex has played a pivotal role in the success of the ministry’s awareness campaign by showing both the public and partners the ministry’s duties, role and services.”
