He said that similar clinics are taking place in Nairobi and Mombasa in Kenya as well as in Uganda, Rwanda and Burundi and will soon venture into Southern Sudan who has since shown interest to join EA Community. During the clinic, the students were exposed to the simple fundamentals of passing, catching and running with a ball and the key rules that are applied on the field of play.

Kelly said every mid November the former NFL players will be in the country where they will conduct two-week training to university athletes, in a bid to expose them to the game of American football. "We want to take the game of American football to higher learning institutions with a view of having the tournament taking place in future EA Universities games," said Kelly.

Kelly said there is a container yet to be opened which includes American football equipments such as helmets, shoulder pads, jerseys and shoes which will be handed to UDSM to facilitate the training. Commenting on the programme, a physical education lecturer at the University of Dar es Salaam, Dr Cyprian Maro, said the clinic has been instrumental to his students to learn the sport which is a new concept to the people of Tanzania.

Dr Maro revealed that the Physical Education department is set to incorporate American football in its curriculum. "Students taking degree in sports will be trained on the rules and regulation of American football," he said. Brannan promised to return to the country in November, next year. American football is a sport played between two teams of eleven with the objective of scoring points by advancing the ball into the opposing team's end zone.

Known in the United States simply as football, it may also be referred to informally as gridiron football. The ball can be advanced by running with it or throwing it to a teammate. Points can be scored by carrying the ball over the opponent's goal line, catching a pass thrown over that goal line, kicking the ball through the opponent's goal posts or tackling an opposing ball carrier in his own end zone.
