“The system is aimed at fostering cooperation between Home Affairs and SABRIC in combating bank-related identity fraud and corruption that costs banks millions of rand,” the department said.
The system will also result in cooperation between the department and SABRIC in technological developments in the field of identification and verification of details.
Representatives from the banking industry and government officials are expected to attend Tuesday’s launch.
The launch of the system comes against the background of efforts to re-orientate Home Affairs as a security department.
