Ramokgopa is expected to be officially announced as the Tshwane Mayor at another special council meeting today.

Ekhurhuleni has meanwhile announced Mondli Gungubele, a provincial executive member and former Gauteng Sports MEC, as its new Mayor.

Gungubele's appointment comes after the PEC decided to dissolve Ekurhuleni's Regional Executive Committee.

The former mayor, Ntombi Mekgwe, has been tipped to become a member of the Executive Committee of the Gauteng Legislature.
