The Expert Group Meeting (EGM) is conducted on the eGovernment Readiness Index in order to review the developments in the ICT field and examine the survey's methodology in ranking various countries included in the United Nations eGovernment Survey which is issued biennially.

On the second day of the meeting, the CEO will present a report comprising the views that were gathered in the Global eGovernment Expert Workshop, which was organized by the eGA in the Kingdom from 6th to 7th November 2011. The workshop was carried out to discuss the indicators adopted within the United Nations (UN) eGovernment indexes, with the participation of 17 countries representing every continent in the globe along with experts from the UN and other international organizations.

Al Qaed will also present the areas agreed upon within the November workshop - where participants approved a number of suggestions and views; namely, to create indices to gauge the development at the national level in addition to indices to measure the variations among states.

The experts also recommended updating the criteria of the UN indexes and adopting additional elements that contribute in highlighting the efforts exerted by countries in order to develop their programs.

The workshop also brought together experts of the United Nations Global eGovernment Readiness Report, International Telecommunication Union (ITU), representatives of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), as well as specialized international experts in the fields of global indices, ICT, eParticipation and Open Data platform.
