Korea has ranked first on the E-Government Survey 2012 for the second straight time. The biannual survey, released in February and conducted by the United Nations Public Administration Network, rates the e-government performance of about 190 nations. The Korean government received the highest scores on both the E-Government Development Index and the E-Participation Index.
In the E-Government Development Index, Korea was followed by the Netherlands, United Kingdom, Denmark and the United States. In the E-Participation Index, Korea ranked first with the Netherlands, followed by Singapore and Kazakhstan, which tied for second.
This year’s assessment focused on “e-government for the people.” The survey indicated that Korea continues to rank at the top for the significant development and provision of cross-sector mobile applications downloadable on its integrated portal.
