The recommendations of Parliament’s Public Administration and Appropriations Committee on the rationalization of the public sector are to be sent to the House of Representatives for its consideration comes next year.
Over several weeks, the committee heard submissions from various sectors on the proposed reform of the public sector contained in a green paper.
Committee chairman Dr Wykeham McNeill said it was agreed that considerable spending may be needed for the government
to implement the raft of measures being proposed by the Public Sector Transformation Unit.
But, he said the committee was not able to attach a cost on the possible source of the funds because there were not enough details in the green paper.
Dr McNeill said the committee believes that strong leadership will be needed to implement the changes.
