Russian communications revenue grew by 4 percent year-on-year in the period from January-September to RUB 1.185 trillion, reports Digit.ru citing a study from state statistics office Rosstat. Mobile connection revenues totaled RUB 530.7 billion, up by 4.5 percent and accounted for 48 percent of all telecoms revenue. Internet and data transmission revenues increased by 5.4 percent to RUB 156.7 billion, forming 13.2 percent of all revenue.

Traffic interconnect and transit revenue jumped by 13.4 percent to RUB 181.7 billion, making up 15.3 percent of all revenue.  Local telephony and payphones income dropped by 3.1 percent to RUB 107.6 billion. DLD/ILD telephony revenues declined by 4.7 percent to RUB 59.3 billion.

The number of fixed telephones used dropped by 2.5 percent to 42.1 million and the number of household telephones dropped by 3.8 percent to 30.3 million. The number of payphones decreased by 3.1 percent to 170,600. The number of mobile connection subscribers grew by 6.6 percent to 273.5 million and the active subscriber base soared by 5.4 percent to 217.3 million.
